As first seasons go, Steve Johnson’s is going pretty well.
Second in the table and through to the Yorkshire Cup final, Johnson has played his part pulling the strings from fly-half.
Johnson admits he has learned so much from his first season at Chants Ave and he hopes he can see Hull succeed in two competitions.
“We’ve spoke from the beginning of the season about promotion being the goal,” Johnson said.
“We’re now getting close to that goal being achieved and it’s not something that’s been gifted to us.
“We’ve had to work really hard both on and off the field, in our 25th anniversary year, getting promoted and winning a Yorkshire cup would be perfect.
“We have such a good group of players it’s what everyone deserves!
“For me personally it would be extra sweet having my first season playing fly-half and gaining promotion!
“It’s been a massive year of learning for me, looking at the game from a whole different angle it’s been tough but will make the successes a whole lot better!”
