While Hull play Doncaster Phoenix today, one of their players is flying the flag for Hull in the Hong Kong Sevens.
Ash Smith is part of the Jamaica squad taking part in the world famous tournament and intends to make the most of playing on the big stage.
Before flying out, he got to pick the brains of his Hull coach Gary Pearce who is a previous Hong Kong Sevens winner.
“Gary has won it before and has told me where to go during my time there,” Smith said.
“Not many people get the chance to play in the Hong Kong Sevens so I’m honoured.
“It’s a chance to represent Hull on the world stage and show what I can do.
“I got invited last summer by head coach James Bailey and we have some very good players.
“I played in a few U.K. Super Series games last year at Allianz Park with the main aim to play in Trinidad at the end of the year.
“We qualified for the Hong Kong Sevens by coming third in the tournament after losing to Canada.
“Hong Kong is a huge stage and it’s the best Sevens Tournament in the world.”
