Coach Gary Pearce believes tonight’s Yorkshire Cup quarter-final with Wharfedale will be a good indicator as to how far his side have developed this season.
Tonight’s opponents may be in a division higher than Pearce’s team, but with home advantage at Bishop Burton, Hull fancy their chances of causing a cup upset.
With a league game against Doncaster Phoenix on Saturday to plan for, Pearce admits he may have no choice but to rotate his squad.
“Wharfedale will be a good test for us,” Pearce said.
“It’s a chance for the players to showcase themselves.
“It’s difficult to play Saturday, Thursday and Saturday.
“We’ve got a few knocks which comes with playing on the hard pitches.
“We don’t have a huge squad so we’ll have to see who will be ready to go but the players are keen to play.
“It will be good to measure ourselves against Wharfedale and see where we are.
“But we have to bear in mind we have a team to put out two days later.
“We tried to look after a few of the players particularly in the back five when we knew the game was won on Saturday.
“We won’t rotate too much but we want to finish the season with a bang.”
