For both Hull and Wharfedale, the Yorkshire Cup is a chance to bring the curtain down on their seasons in style.
League campaigns haven’t gone as well as both would have liked. Hull are all but assured third spot in National Three North while Wharfedale have virtually secured their place in the division Hull will be aiming to win promotion to next season.
Both sides bounced back to winning ways after losing their previous league fixtures. Hull fell two point shy of the half century in their 48-14 win over Sandal at Chanterlands Avenue while Wharfedale beat Sedgley Park 13-10.
Both are back in league action on Saturday with Hull at home to Doncaster Phoenix while Wharfedale travel to fifth placed Chester.
So far this year, Wharfedale have been inconsistent winning five of their last 11 games.
All six of their defeats have been on the road suggesting Hull have a chance of reaching the last four of the Yorkshire Cup.
Hull’s win last weekend was their 11th in their last 13 games.
