4 September 2021 – National Two North : Hull 27-8 Luctonians

Hull kicked off their campaign with a fairly comfortable home win over visitors Luctonians at the Ferens Ground. Hull opened the scoring on 38 minutes when hooker Ali Thomson went over from a catch and drive lineout followed almost immediately by winger Mike Adlard outpacing the visitors defence to score with Simon Humberstone adding the conversion. In the second half Luctonians worked their way back Naylor,  into the game with a penalty and an unconverted try to reduce the deficit to four points before Hull produced a grandstand finish in the final quarter. A Humberstone penalty on 71 minutes was followed by another unconverted Adlard try before Thomson scored his second try of the afternoon from another catch and drive lineout to finish the scoring.

3 September 2016 – National Three North : Kendal 15-20 Hull

Hull pulled off a gritty 20-15 win at Kendal in their season opener with a winning try in the last play of the game. Kendal started the game well and opened the scoring with an unconverted try after 20 minutes. Hull responded with a penalty from Tomasi Tanumi following a yellow card for the home side and then set up James Watts for an unconverted try and a 8-5 half time lead. The start of the second half saw Kendal score two unconverted tries to lead by seven points before Danny Hague surged over the line and Tanumi added the conversion to level the scores at 15-15. Kendal bombarded the Hull line but without success and having established field position deep in Kendal’s half George Thornton crashed over for a dramatic winning try.

3 September 2011 – National Division Two North : Otley 20-15 Hull

Otley’s ability to take their opportunities proved crucial as Hull slipped to an injury time defeat in a physical game at Cross Green. Hull led three times and with 60 seconds to go the scores were level following a first half in which James Cameron’s 39^th minute penalty was the only score. Within a minute of the restart Otley were level with a penalty of their own but were unable to deal with Hull’s kick off and after a series of drives Cameron coolly dropped a goal from 20 yards to restore the visitors lead. Otley then put together a number of ball retaining forward drives which resulted in a try from close range to lead 8-6 but almost immediately another Cameron penalty put Hull back in front. Otley regained the lead on 66 minutes with a converted try to lead 15-9 before Cameron’s two penalties tied the scores at 15-15 with the final whistle seconds away. But Otley had the final word when they retained possession for three phases and quick hands led to a winning try in injury time.
