On Saturday, Hull RUFC embark on their final away game of the 2022/23 season, when they travel to mid-table Chinnor. Nick Easter’s side beat Esher by two points a couple of weeks ago, and Esher beat Hull by a point last week, which makes this an intriguing battle. The look on the players faces after losing so agonisingly to Esher at Chants Ave last weekend, was clear for all to see. It was a game the home side should have won. Forward Alex Todd knows just how close they came to winning and admits that performances have been getting better week by week. After this weekend’s trip to Chinnor, Hull wrap up their National 1 season with back-to-back home games against Cambridge and Bishop’s Stortford. Todd wishes there were more games to play now that the team are finding the feet in the third tier of English rugby.
“A couple of things here or there, and we would have had the win against Esher,” Todd said.
“If we had a bit more territory, we’d have got the win.
“We been building for weeks now, and this week’s game should be a lot better, a lot cleaner.
“At the rate in which we are going, and the way we have been building, everything should come together in the coming weeks.
“We’ve only just started to find our stride and find our feet.
“We wish there were more games left in the season.”
