Hull make just one change for Saturday from last weeks starting side with the experienced Rob Watts coming in for unavailable Harvey Harding at scrum-half. Hull’s side looked solid on paper last week but was unable to hit best form and were eventually well beaten.
Director of Rugby Mike Umuga will be looking for a good reaction and improved performance from his side. No one can deny what a tough baptism this has been for Hull in their first ever season in National 1, but they have a good squad of players and many sides find the step up tough going.
It is not helpful to blame bad luck in sport, but Hull could easily have won four games which slipped through their grasp. A good performance tomorrow would do much for the sides confidence. There are still try scorers in the side and a pack who put the work in but ball retention is always important and every area needs to be considered.
Losing the ball, be it by poor kicking, poor handling, the giving away of penalties or any other reason just puts pressure on Hull. There will be moments where Hull can make their presence felt and if they take full advantage of that they will score points.
The long awaited return of Loma Makaafi is a bonus and will be interesting to see if Hull can raise their game for this fixture in front of their home supporters.
