After three successive away games, Hull RUFC return to home action on Saturday when Plymouth make the long journey to Chants Ave. Director of Rugby Mike Umaga admits the schedule has been tough for the players, with two postponements at Cambridge and Darlington Mowden Park rearranged for the two weeks after Hull travelled to Leeds at the end of January. Umaga wants the players to put a season of slow starts behind then against Plymouth on home soil.
“I won’t lie, three away games in a row was tough,” Umaga said.
“But we’ve trained well for the visit of Plymouth.
“The players will be able to sleep in their own beds before the game which is important.
“The travelling has not been easy and maybe that has impacted the way we start games.
“We need to sort our mindsets out and hit the ground running from the first minute.
“We seem to cruise into games and find ourselves 20-0 down.
“We have to utilise the fact we are at home this weekend.”
