Mike Umaga takes charge of his third game as director of rugby, when the team travel to Leeds tomorrow. Umaga would have had three games under his belt had last week’s home game against Birmingham Moseley not been postponed. It was only the second game ever to be postponed since the club removed to Chants Ave (thank you Norman Angell). Umaga was disappointed not to have a game after impressive displays against Rams and Rosslyn Park. Overall the director of rugby has been happy with how things have gone since he took charge of the team along with his assistant Tony Penn.
“It’s been a positive reaction,” Umaga said.
“We want them to stay positive.
“We wanted the players to buy into what we want, and they have.
“Players are on different journeys in terms of their experience, and we want to support them on those journeys.
“We were disappointed not to have a game last weekend, but we can’t control mother nature.
“We’ve had a good week training and the players are fresh for this trip to Leeds.
“I believe the reverse fixture was a game we could have won, but that’s in the past. We have to move on.
“We go to Leeds full of confidence.”
