It’s been a tough week for the players of Hull RUFC. After losing 34-0 at Esher, a lot of soul searching has gone on behind the scenes as to how they lost that game without scoring a single point. It’s the first time this season they have been nilled and it’s not a nice feeling. However, the players don’t have to wait long to make amends. This Saturday, they host Chinnor who are just 10 points ahead of Hull in the National League 1 table. Director of Rugby Gary Pearce hopes his side can show the real Hull RUFC in what will be the club’s last home game of what has been a memorable 2022.
“Last week was a true reflection of who we are,” Pearce said.
“We arrived late after being held up on the motorway, but we aren’t making excuses.
“For the first time this season we were a little disapointed with our performance.
“This weekend’s game at home to Chinnor is a great opportunity for us to bounce back and register our first win.
“We want to give them a run for their money.
“We didn’t keep the ball very well at Esher and we gifted them soft tries.
“We will be looking for a better performance in front of our home supporters.
“Every team has bad games, but we just have to take it on the chin and move on.
“We can’t dwell on last week’s performance which wasn’t us really.”
