With the Junior World Cup starting next Wednesday, we will be following the progress of our prop George Thornton in Georgia.
Hull RUFC and Bishop Burton prop George Thornton flew out to Georgia on Wednesday to represent Scotland at the U20s World Cup.
Thornton has been selected for the tournament hoping to take his country further than they have ever done in the nine years of the competition.
Eighth in the last two tournaments is the best the Scots have managed and Thornton knows the importance of the championship both for him and the team.
“This is a huge opportunity to impress,” Thornton said.
“This competition keeps on growing and is becoming known worldwide now so there will be hundreds of thousands of people watching across the world.
“It’s a huge chance to try and impress some clubs that will probably be watching so I can’t wait to impress.
“This tournament is massive for my development.”
“It really tests a player’s character with the quick turnaround with only four days between games.
“And you’re playing against the best young players in the world so it’s an unbelievable chance to test yourself and an even better experience.”
