Hull turn on the style against Sandal

Hull RUFC all but secured third spot in National Three North following their 48-14 win over Sandal at Chanterlands Avenue.
Sandal could have climbed above Hull if they had won and denied the hosts a bonus point, but the gulf between the two sides was much bigger than what the table showed.
Hull had secured their own bonus point by the 28th minute as the visitors were blown away by their opponents who were keen to make amends for their disappointing defeat at Rossendale seven days earlier.
Joe Stafford got Hull off to the perfect start with the game’s first try. But Sandal responded with a converted try to take an early 7-5 lead.
Stephen Hiheta and Ali Heard extended Hull’s lead to 15-7 as Hull found plenty of joy down their left hand side but conversions proved more difficult.
Lee Birch was named man of the match for his all-round game but his two tries before half-time put the home side in pole position for the win.
Leading 29-7 at the break, the question was how big a score Hull could put on.
Joe Martin extended Hull’s advantage to start the scoring in the second half with a converted try before Sandal grabbed their second and final try of the game.
Heard and Hiheta both found ways over the Sandal try line to finish the game in style.
Hull may have fallen two points short of the half century, but the performance eased the disappointment of missing out on finishing second.
