Club Annoucement: New Head Coach

The Club has appointed David Ellis as the New Head Coach.

The former rugby league player amassed over 700 appearances for clubs such as Castleford, Doncaster, Keighley Cougars, Batley & several Queensland clubs in Australia.

Following a code switch in 1999 to the 15 a side game he joined Racing Club de France, from this he became the defence coach for the French National Side in 2000 and held this role for 11 years.

During this time he won the Six Nations five times (Including 3 Grand Slams) and helped mastermind France’s famous victory over New Zealand in the 2007 World Cup quarter finals before reaching the World Cup final four years later in New Zealand.

In addition to this Ellis also worked with the All Blacks during the 2005 British & Irish Lions Tour and coach Tonga for 2 years between 2012 and 2014.

More recently Ellis has had roles in helping develop younger talents at both  Warwick School & QEGS Wakefield who were finalists in the 2025 national schools cup.

Chairman of Rugby Jeremy Saunt commented ‘It is fantastic that we have been able to secure the services of a quality coach with an impressive track record at the highest level, This is a statement of intent from our club as we look to progress forward with the development of our squad and we fully believe that Dave is committed to helping the club achieve this vision.

Club Captain Mike Jobling added ‘It is a fantastic opportunity for the squad to gain exposure from an international coach, not many players get this kind of opportunity to experience it and I am sure Dave will enjoy the opportunity to work with the group and put his playing identity onto the squad.’
