The season may be over, but for some, the action continues. At the end of the league season, the best players are selected to represent their county in the Bill Beaumont County Championship. This season, Loma Kivalu’s and Ali Heard have been picked to represent Yorkshire. This weekend the White Rose county face Cheshire and confidence is high following last week’s 70-19 win over Hertfordshire, but Hull RUFC co-captain Ali Heard expects more of a challenge this weekend when the side take on Cheshire at Doncaster. Heard pulled on the Yorkshire shirt for the first time in nearly a decade, and admitted it was great to be back representing the county.
“It was great to play for Yorkshire last weekend, I really enjoyed it,” Ali said.
“I’ve only ever played one senior game for them before and that was around eight years ago which feels like a lifetime.
“To get the win at the weekend was a really good starting point although the next two games will be a tough as well.
“This week is against Cheshire at Castle park in Doncaster and that will be a challenge itself.
“They looked like they had a pretty strong squad despite their result they had on Saturday but I’m sure they will be keen and up for the game this weekend.”
