Hull RUFC finish their first ever season in National League 1 with back-to-back home games against Cambridge this Saturday, and against Bishop’s Stortford next Saturday. While it’s been a difficult campaign, it’s been a chance for some of the young players to play at a level they may never have got before. Jamie Major is one of those players who is embracing every second of game time. The former Bishop Burton front rower admits that playing in the third tier of English rugby will make him a better player in the coming seasons.
“Personally, I feel like this season has been a massive learning curve,” Major said.
“It’s also a chance to test myself and see where I stand.
“It’s been exciting to go up against strong opposition each week and take learnings from each game to the next.
“Despite the results, I have enjoyed the season.
“As for the step-up, it’s mainly adapting to the pace of the game more so in defence.
“The one thing that I will take with me moving forward is how crucial all the 1% efforts are at this level, that you might be able to get away with in National 2 North.”
