Mike: The Lads Are Doing Everything To Get A Win

This weekend, Hull RUFC host Esher at Chants Ave. It’s the second of two successive home games for the players, and with three of their remaining four fixtures at home, there is hope that Mike Umaga’s side can find a win between now and the end of the season. A trip to Chinnor next week is followed by back-to-back home games after Easter against Cambridge and Bishop Stortford. Umaga has urged his players to finish the season strongly by staying in the fight to put together an 80-minute performance.

“We have a few players back this weekend against Esher,” Umaga said.
“We’ll try and play an 80-minute game, that’s what we’re striving for.
“We’ve put in some good 40-minute performances, but hopefully now we can play well for 80 minutes.
“If we do that, we give ourselves a good shout.
“It would be massive if we can get that win.
“The lads are driven and that is what they are aiming for.
“We have to make the most of our opportunities.
“There were times last weekend against Birmingham Moseley, we got in their ’22’ but came away with nothing. That’s not good enough.
“My message to the players is to stay in the fight and compete at every breakdown.
“We have to do all we can to utilise the ball we get.”
