Keane: We’ve Learnt A Lot Since Leeds Loss

Hull RUFC travel to Leeds hoping to avenge their narrow loss to the same side at Chants Ave in the middle of October. The game was level at 22-22 when the home side were awarded a penalty, well within kicking distance. A successful kick would have give Hull a 25-22 lead with tie running out. A decision to kick for the corner backfired and moments later, Leeds scored the winning try in the right hand corner. For many watching, it was a win that got away. A lot has changed since then, and winger Keane Naylor admits his team have a long way since then.

“We have learnt a lot since playing Leeds at home,” Naylor said.
“In this league you cannot be off the game for one second, from the first minute to the 80th.
“We just have more belief as a team of what we are actually capable of.
“We have put in two good performances against two top sides. We just need to follow this up this weekend.
“It was gutting to not play last weekend, the two games we have had since New Year were very positive and we were looking to carry forward that momentum.
“This upcoming game away to Leeds is huge, we were unlucky at home to have lost so narrowly.
“We are definitely looking to turn that around this weekend at their place.
“Not playing last weekend was the last thing we wanted, we feel we are so close to getting that first win of the season.
“But we have to look at the positives, we go into the Leeds game fresh and with no new injuries. No excuses for us.”
