As we approach the Christmas break, Hull RUFC await their first win of the season. Looking at the National 1 league table does not make pleasant reading, but once again, the players showed last week in their 29-15 loss at home to Chinnor, that a first win in the third tier of English rugby is not far away. Remember, this is the third tier of English rugby and for Hull to be competing in it says a lot about how far they have come in recent years. Chinnor announced former England international Nick Easter as their director of rugby proving that Hull cannot compete with the resources of those around them in the league. Moving forward, number eight Will Hall has urged his team-mates to forget the past and focus on the future.
“We showed real character on Saturday against Chinnor,” Hall said.
“That was good to see after the Esher performance the previous week.
“As the season goes, on we need to start forgetting about what’s happened in the past and keep cracking away at the weeks ahead where we can hopefully pick up some points.
“Although we’re losing games and it’s tough to take, it is still enjoyable and a great opportunity.
“We’re learning as a team and as individuals every time we step out there which is what you want as a player.
“Everyone knew it was going to be tough, but we’re sticking in and hopefully we will get a ‘W’ in the very near future!”
