Club Historian Stephen Hodgson takes us on a trip down memory lane every week of the season. With rugby cancelled 5 years ago due to the coronavirus pandemic, Stephen has delved further into the club records to pick out games played on this week 10, 15 and 20 years ago. It continues to be a popular read with former and current players. Do you feature this week?

26 February 2011 – National Division Two North : Preston Grasshoppers 18-18 Hull
Hull rescued a draw against the Hoppers in this re-arranged game when James Cameron landed a penalty with two minutes remaining just when it seemed Preston had won the game late on themselves. Hull started well with James Greene embarking on a mazy run to score after just two minutes with Cameron adding the conversion. Ten minutes later Cameron added to the score with a mid-range penalty before Hull stretched further ahead on 25 minutes when Max Lewis powered over although Cameron’s conversion attempt was wide. Preston finally got on the scoreboard in first half added time with a penalty to end the half. Ten minutes into the second half Kris Fullman was yellow carded for persistent fouling and Preston were awarded a penalty try which was converted to begin the turnaround. With twenty minutes left the Preston full back finished well to draw the home side level with an unconverted try and in the 75th minute the hosts took the lead for the first time in the match following a penalty awarded against Matt White. Hull responded by pressing the Preston line and when they dived in illegally James Cameron took the opportunity to kick the penalty and tie up the score at 18-18.
