Hull RUFC vs Scunthorpe RUFC: Match Preview

This local derby is one that both sides could do with winning as they look to stay in the National Division Two of English Rugby Union.

Scunthorpe have shown some flashes of form, non more so than last week when they beat Fylde in a close encounter away from home, which is a real feather in their cap.

Hull held table toppers Sheffield for a very long time a week ago and that alone, shows that Hull are a side to be reckoned with.

It all points to a fierce battle as both sides look to get the points they need to stay up  .

A key will be avoiding cards of any colour as we have seen at international level being reduced to fourteen men almost always means you lose a score and if you get more than one card it makes it very difficult to get a win.

Hull have yet again been hit by their never ending injury jinx with centre Tom  Minns and scrum half /off half Joe Adams both out of action for a few weeks at least..

Despite this Hull have a strong physical side as David Halaifonua rejoins Liam Regardsoe in the second row with Harvey Harding linking up with Paulos Latu and Alec Renouf in the back row.  Seasoned campaigners Loma Kivalu, Oliver Fretwell and Mike Jobling start in the front row .

The backs see the introduction of new comer, the pacy James Farrar at full back with Harry Dawkins and Jamie Shaul on the wings and Ali Heard and Jack Render in the centres . Harry Pinder and Reece Dean taking on the influential half back roles.

A strong looking bench of front rowers Charlie Beech, Jack Bergmanas and back row man Josh Ratovou alongside backs replacerments, scrum half Joey Barratt and try scoring winger Tom Lineham gives the right sort of all round cover for later in the game.

The home side will be flying but Hull have the talent to get a win if the stay at fifteen players throughout and keep concentration at all times .
