Hull travel to Sheffield Tigers this week after their morale boosting victory against Otley last week .The Sheffield side sit just one place above Hull, who are now third from the foot of the table , but with a nine point cushion. Sheffield’s slow start to the season improved as they have now accumulated four victories with most notably a good victory against away from home at Hull Ionians which was followed up by a convincing scoreline on their way to a win against Preston Grasshoppers which suggests they are coming into some kind of form and will be a hard nut to crack.
Hull welcome back their captain and Yorkshire centre Alex Heard to the starting lineup after a long layoff through injury with Jack Render, who has played well this season dropping to the bench. The only other change to the back division sees the injured Jamie Shaul replaced by the exciting Joe Cummins at full back.
The pack sees the front row of Charlie Beech Jack Bergmanas and Mike Jobling start with Danny Ward and Loma Kivalu teaming up in the second row with the back row comprising David Halafoinua, Alec Renouf and Evi Uriburu-Gray taking over the number eight role as Noah Marshall is injured.
A feature of Hull’s win against Otley was a much lower penalty count against then compared to most other games this season and a continuation of that feature will do them no harm this weekend. They also showed real determination coming from behind twice and ending the game slightly the stronger side. A result is more than possible but they will need to continue those trends if they are to beat a Sheffield side coming into some good form of their own.
