Memory Lane With Stephen Hodgson

Club Historian Stephen Hodgson takes us on a trip down memory lane every week of the season. With rugby cancelled 5 years ago due to the coronavirus pandemic, Stephen has delved further into the club records to pick out games played on this week 10, 15 and 20 years ago. It continues to be a popular read with former and current players. Do you feature this week?

12 December 2015 : Hull RUFC had no game this weekend.

11 December 2010  – Hull RUFC played no games throughout December due to the adverse winter weather.

10 December November 2005 – North One : Hull 20-25 Longton

A poor first half performance from Hull contributed to this home defeat to an enthusiastic and well drilled Longton outfit. Hull were ahead inside the opening minute thanks to an unconverted try from winger Danny Smith but were then starved of possession coupled with the loss of hooker Adam Atkinson with a hamstring injury. The visitors capitalised and hit back with a 5th minute penalty followed by three tries, two conversions and a penalty to lead 25-5 at half time. After the break fly half Waylon Tangohau landed a penalty and converted a penalty try while Danny Smith scored his second unconverted try but the visitors held on for the win.
