
Hull overcame a determined Billingham side a twelve man injury list and an almost record four yellow cards to record their first win of the season.
Billingham started well but Hull’s resilience told when after fifteen minutes Hukl’s number eight powered his way over for a try converted by off half Reece Dean on his 100th appearance for the club. Billingham responded when Groark touched down after eighteen minutes for an unconverted try but Hull’s back rower Lawrence Cowan- Leak extended his sides lead with a great try after twenty two minutes converted by Dean to Hull with a narrow 14-5 halftime lead.
The second half saw Hull get on the wrong side of the referee but despite a spate of yellow cards they scored three good tries through scrum half Pinder, centre and new comer Render and subsitute back Gunn- Mclean
with Reece Dean adding two conversions.Billingham managed three tries through Lsuchkan , L Wilson and Headlam with L Wilson adding two conversions. Hull’s resolve held and a 33-24 victory saw them
with a maximum points haul to kick start their season.
