Today’s Visitors : Billingham RUFC
Today we welcome our visitors from County Durham to the Ferens Ground for our fifth league game of the season.
Billingham RUFC was formed in 1924 as the rugby section of the Synthonia Sports Club of the Synthetic Ammonia and Nitrates Company which later became Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI). The club moved to their present Greenwood Road ground in 1996 where a new clubhouse was built in 2000.
We have played Billingham on 12 occasions since our first meeting in season 2015/16 including the last two seasons in National 2 North since their promotion from Regional One North East at the end of season 2022/23. Last season we won the home fixture 40-26 at the Ferens Ground in September to gain our first win of the season but we lost the away fixture 34-17 in January when Ali Heard set a then new club appearance record on his 243rd appearance for the club.
