Hull RUFC vs Fylde – Match Preview

Hull travel to Lancashire this weekend to take on fourth placed Fylde as they attempt to pick up their first win of the season. Fylde have made a solid start , edging out Preston in an away fixture  after a more convincing win against Billingham on home soil but then being held to a draw at home by Hull Ionians .

Hull have had three games as well and could  have won two of those against Rossendale and Preston and were  edged out whilst losing to local neighbours Hull Ionians after a stirring come back when they  failed to overcome a well organised side in the last quarter. This week Hull welcome back , back rower Evi Uriburu-Gray after injury and Charlie Beech returns to the bench as substitute prop forward. With the rest of the pack remaining as last selection and  second row, Jack Iceton, front rower Danny Ward and back five stalwart Latu Maka’afi joining Charlie Beech on the bench the pack has a very solid look about it. Hull’s scrummaging and mauling have been features of this season so far and these could well be features of the game this Saturday.

The backs welcome back the strong running David Halafonua to the centre where he will join Vetaia Sukani who has shown great attacking flair in his starts this season. Harry Dawkins moves back to the wing with Tom Lineham on the opposite flank with the versatile  Harry Gunn Mclean taking up the full back role .

The backs substitutes , Brandon Norman and Josh Ratvou complete the lineup which will be looking to get their first victory against a very useful Fylde outfit.

This new look Hull side have been working towards establishing the right combinations and despite a series of disruptive injuries they have been getting closer to finding a winning formula . This week’s task is about as tough as they come but  Hull have plenty of power and could surprise promotional hopefuls Fylde .
