It’s also our Family Fun Day and we hope to see plenty of the player’s past and present & home and away suppporters children have fun at Chants Ave later.

Today’s Visitors : Rossendale RUFC

Welcome to the Ferens Ground for our opening league fixture of season 2025/26 against our visitors from Lancashire, Rossendale RUFC who are visiting our ground for only the fifth time.
Rossendale RUFC were formed in 1969 when the club played its early games on farmland above Rawtenstall and it is fair to say that the club have progressed superbly since those early days when changing facilities were non existent and training venues impossible to find.
Rossendale have previously progressed through the divisions of North West leagues. They were promoted as champions from the North Lancashire & Cumbria Division One in 2004/05 and were runners-up to Rochdale in 2008/09 gaining promotion via the play-offs to play in National 3 North ( later redesignated as Northern Premier Division from season 2017/18) . Following promotion from Regional 1 North West at the end of last season 2024/25 Rossendale now find themselves playing in National 2 North this season.
We have only played each other on 8 separate occasions in four consecutive seasons between 2015/16 to 2018/19 with the results as follows ;
2015/16 National Three North 7 November 2015 Rossendale 20-19 Hull
5 March 2016 Hull 44-19 Rossendale
2016/17 National Three North 19 November 2016 Hull 21-30 Rossendale
25 March 2017 Rossendale 21-13 Hull
2017/18 Northern Premier Div 2 September 2017 Hull 31-13 Rossendale
21 April 2018 Rossendale 28-39 Hull
2018/19 Northern Premier Div 1 September 2018 Rossendale 29-28 Hull
13 April 2019 Hull 62-0 Rossendale
We had finished 2nd in the Northern Premier Division and won the Yorkshire Cup in 2017/18 but we started 2018/19 with a narrow 29-28 defeat at Rossendale albeit it would be one of only two league defeats all season as we created 8 new club records on our way to promotion to National Two North as league champions.
It is a pleasure to welcome Rossendale back to Hull and we offer a warm welcome to their players, officials and supporters this afternoon.
Enjoy the game.
