Mick Scott, one of Hull RUFC’s most loyal supporters will be 90 Tomorrow.
Rugby has played a very significant part in his life since his school days. Mick crafted his rugby skills at Hymers College and was a regular member of the 1st XV .
He played senior rugby at the very early age of sixteen playing a game for Hull & East Riding. However the Old Hymerian authorities took a dim view of this and Mick was quickly brought into the Old Hymerians team .
Mick had started his rugby life as an off-half but moved into the backrow where he played with distinction for many years. Mick is one of the few remaining members of the Old Hymerians Yorkshire Cup winning side of 1958 which remains one of the great highlights of the clubs history.
Mick was joined in the Old Hymerians side by his brothers Ian and Harvey who played centre and hooker respectively . When all three played in a game at Gateshead in the late sixties they were joined by three Chapman brothers and two Gore brothers which must have some sort of record!
Mick finally left Hull in 1970 as his work took him north to Teeside. He became the Managing Director of the Tees Storage Company, but although he raised a family of two daughters Alison and Jessica with his wife Norma at their home in Northallerton, He still found time to indulge his passion for rugby becoming the coach for the Stockton RUFC.
Mick returned to see games in Hull whenever he could and has rarely missed a home fixture of Hull RUFC for the past thirty years and manages to get to quite a few away games in as well.
The whole club wishes Mick, a true rugby man , a very happy 90th birthday!

Happy 90th Mick, I have very fond memories of playing at Haworth Court with my two Brothers but sadly, since moving to New Zealand in 1978 we have all become All Black supporters, hope you have a great Birthday and many more. Ian Margaret, Amanda and Lisa x x x
