The sad news that Don Robson passed away in his sleep in Glasgow last Friday at the age of 91 saw one of the last of Old Hymerians Yorkshire Cup winning side in the 1958 season leave us.
Don started started playing rugby at school representating the schoool at every age group eventuallly playing for the school 1st XV.
After leaving school he played for Old Hymerians and during his time doing National Service he played for the Guards and Blackheath which at that time were one of the best club side in England.
He was in several 7’s sides winning a number of tournaments and played against a touring side from Milan.

A very versatile player, Don played as No 8 and as full-back and was a prodigious goal kicker and regular try scorer.
He played rugby and cricket for Old Hymerians and when he retired from playing rugby he refereed within Yorkshire for many years.
He and his wife Jill have been very loyal supporters of Hull RUFC following the amalgamation and he would be very pleased that Hull won last week and was very optimistic about our chances of avoiding relegation..

Don is being cremated in Scotland with his funeral being held at 11:30 on the morning of the 16th of May at the All Saints Church in North Ferriby, HU14 3BU. You will be most welcome if you are able to attend the church and afterwards at the Ferriby Social Club.
