Hull RUFC Vs Chester – Match Preview

Hull take on eighth placed Chester this weekend after a disappointing result away at Lymm last week. Hull’s last home game was a convincing victory against Preston Grasshoppers and they will be hoping that the form they showed then returns as they hope to climb the table.

Chester have had a number of very close games since Christmas and wins against Hull Ionians, Harrogate and Tynedale were all by very small margins whereas the loss at home to Otley was by a big margin. The only conclusion is that Chester are beatable, but they have a habit of scraping home.

Hull will be without hard tackling centre and skipper Ali Heard and one of last week’s tryscorers Peter Hudson-Kowalewicz which could mean the returning Bureta Faraimo will partner David Halafoinua with Jake Boardman and Harry Dawkins on the wings.

Last week’s 100% goalkicker Fynlay Hobson will remain at full back. Last week’s pack did very well in the scrums and got some forward momentum going in the loose with every forward making ground in the heavy traffic areas.

Hull were right in it for 50 minutes and they can get a result this week, but only if they remain focused for the full 80 minutes.
