Hull RUFC Vs Preston G’hoppers – Preview

Hull play the Lancashire side from Preston Grasshoppers after two tough fixtures against the league’s top two sides, Leeds Tykes and Sheffield.

Preston have managed seven wins this season against Hull’s six and are two places above Mike Umaga’s side in the league. Both sides will be looking to take maximum points from this fixture to move up towards the relative safety of a mid-table position.

Hull let Sheffield get an early lead last week before coming back well and dominating the last quarter of the game. However, they will need to give that performance for 80 minutes this week if they are to get the better of Preston.

Last week, Hull sustained several unwelcome injuries to forwards Evi Uriburu-Gray, Paulos Latu and Bill Addy and all three are doubts for this weekend. Returning to the squad are back-row forward Adam Brankley and scrum-half Harvey Harding with prop Charlie Beech awaiting a late fitness test.

Hull lost the fixture at Preston before Christmas despite dominating the game for quite a while before fading later in the game.

Hull need to show the kind of form that has seen them do the double against fifth-placed Wharfedale on Saturday if they are to secure a victory. It will be a close game but on their home ground, Hull are capable of playing some excellent rugby. At their best they can secure some much needed points.
