Hull’s narrow win at Hull Ionians just before Christmas seems a long time ago and Hull will be looking to build on that success as they take on one of the top sides in this league.
Leeds, who beat Hull earlier this season, are looking at promotion and will be a tough test for Hull. Leeds are joint top along with Lymm, who are the only side to beat Leeds so far this season, and have found a way to win games even when pushed hard.
The closeness of some of their results mean that a Hull side at full strength can be confident of being well in the game and a positive result is a real possibility.
However Hull will be without the wingers who started in the last game as Mike Adlard has an injury and Harry Dawkins is unavailable.
Nevertheless, Hull have excellent cover as Peter Hudson-Kowalewicz, a regular try scorer and the robust Josh Ratovuo can make their mark on both wings.
The pack could be unchanged unless Bill Addy fails a late fitness test with talented Anthony McCormack one option in the second row.
Astute use of the bench played a significant role in Hull’s last game and there may be some lessons to be learnt from that experience.
Hull’s set piece has improved greatly since the start of the season and will form the base from which to attack the skilful Leeds side.
Having reversed one heavy early season defeat last time out Hull will be hoping for a repeat performance but Leeds’ position in league speaks for itself, so only Hull’s best will do this week.
