Club historian Stephen Hodgson takes us on a trip down memory lane every week of the season. Stephen picks out matches the club played on this week from 5, 10 and 15 years ago. It continues to be a popular read with former and current players. Do you feature this week?

11 January 2020 – National Two North : Hinckley 19-8 Hull

Hinckley made it three wins in a row with this victory over Hull at Leicester Road. The hosts scored first when tighthead prop David Peck showed an impressive turn of pace to beat the Hull defence for the opening try. Hull fly half Simon Humberstone slotted a penalty to reduce the deficit but Hinckley scored another converted try late in the half for a 14-3 lead at the interval. Hinckley extended their lead on 63 minutes with an unconverted try before Hull got a late unconverted consolation try through flanker Tom O’Donnell to finish the scoring.

10 January 2015 – National Two North : Harrogate 28-10 Hull

Hull slipped to defeat at Harrogate as an excellent first half defensive display unfortunately was not matched by a below par second half performance. Harrogate led 8-0 after just twelve minutes following an early unconverted try after four minutes and a penalty. An injury to second rower Max Alderson after fourteen minutes disrupted Hull’s lineouts and a late Harrogate penalty saw them lead 11-0 at the break.

Hull eventually got on the scoreboard with an early second half penalty from Greg Lound but three minutes later the hosts scored another try and sealed the win seven minutes later scoring from a 70 yard move. Former Hull coach Kerry Wood scored a converted try after seventy three minutes which stretched Harrogate’s lead to 28-3 before Hull gained a well worked try from a quick tap penalty through Ben Sullivan, converted by Lound, but it was no more than a late consolation.
