The three games cancelled in N2N on November 23rd were all fulfilled on November 30th and provided two Yorkshire County derbies and one Roses clash.
Beginning with the Sheffield Tigers v Hull RUFC, which the home side won by 29-15 after Hull failed to hold their 15-9 first half advantage following a very see-saw first half which saw the lead change hands four times. Hull scored two tries from Adam Brackley and Peter Hudson-Kawalewicz, with the first try converted by Finlay Hobson, who also landed a penalty goal. The Tigers points came from the boot of winger Mark Ireland who kicked three penalty goals in the 2nd, 10th and 19th minutes to make the most of the Hull discretions.
Hull would have been happy with their first-half display but not so happy with their second-half showing as the Tigers scored three tries From Will Baker (42 mins), Dominic Santamaria (56 mins) and debutant Long in the 70th minute. Ireland landed his fourth penalty goal in the 49th minute and also converted Long’s try to end the scoring. Dominic Santamaria took the M-o-M award. Attendance 150.
Harrogate made the most of several depletions in the Otley ranks to post their second win of the season when they defeated their visitors by 39-7, after leading 22-0 at the break. They scored five tries to Otley’s one, of which fly-half Tom Steene converted four and added two penalties for good
measure. The Harrogate tries came from Henry Derbyshire, Junior Nuu (2), and Will Hill (2). Sam Hodge scored a consolation try for Otley in the 79th minute which was converted by Joe Rowntree, but they finished a well-beaten side and will be looking forward to getting back to full strength once again.
In the top four of the table clash at the Woodland, Fylde gave the Leeds Tykes a very hard game and the visitors had to defend for their lives in the latter stages of this very tight and even game, which they won by 22-17 after leading12-7 at the interval. Fylde took an early lead in the 2nd minute when David Fairbrother scored with Patrick Bishop converted. The Tykes hit back and after Fylde’s Matt Garrod was yellow-carded the Tykes were awarded a penalty try following a second yellow Peter Altham. Leeds took full advantage of the situation when hooker Arin Yorke scored to put them in the lead. after the interval. With Fylde back at full strength again they scored a try through Mike Walton which Bishop converted to restore their lead at 14-12. The Tykes responded in fine style with tries from Edward Brown in the 61st minute and Peter Luccock in the 74th to take the lead by 22-14. Bishop landed a late penalty for Fylde to gain them a losing bonus point, but try as they did to regain their unbeaten home record they could not break a resolute Leeds defence. The Fylde No8 David Fairbrother took the M-o-M award after giving a fine display. Attendance 432.
