Hull continue their campaign against a side whose record is the exact opposite of their own. Fylde have won seven and lost two games so on that basis they should be clear favourites this weekend. However nothing in this league is that simple.
Fylde have been quite heavily defeated twice in away fixtures at Sheffield RUFC and Lymm whereas Hull lost to Sheffield RUFC by a point and to Lymm by one score at home. The conclusion is that many sides in this division, when at full strength, are of a very similar standard.
Hull will welcome back a regular scrum-half this weekend as Harvey Harding, Sam Crane and Joey Barratt are all available. Winger Mike Adlard made his comeback last week and should be in the mix to bring his unique finishing skills to the game.
The pack will see Tom Bairstow back at prop after recovering from injury allowing back rower Jack Baldry to go back to his favoured position as a starter or from the bench after playing as a hooker last week. Liam Regardsoe, Billy Addy and Ant McCormack will vie for the second row places with Adam Brankley, Will Hall and Evi Uriburu-Grey likely backrow starters.
Hull will not have to cope with the very different bounce of the ball they encountered on Chester’s all-weather pitch, but will need to make a good start to the game and concentrate at every phase if they are to inflict a third loss on a Fylde side that sits fourth in the league, but have had some less successful results on their travels.
