Richard Gore Previews Our Home Game With Billingham

Having lost by a point to Otley and the suffered two defeats by a margin to local rivals Hull Ionians and Leeds Tykes, Hull RUFC take on Billingham at Chants Ave this Saturday.

Billingham are unbeaten in their three games so far this season having beaten Harrogate, drawn against Tynedale and then beating Otley by two points.

Hull have relied heavily on their youngsters in the last two games and whilst they have put in a lot of hard work, Hull will welcome back a number of highly-experienced players this week as they seek to gain their first victory.

Harvey Harding will bring a physicality and game management at scrum-half and the return of second rower Liam Regardsoe, and back row men Paulos Latu and Adam Brankley will give the pack a solid base and present a physical challenge to the visiting team.

Hull’s backs will remain similar to last week with Harrison Astley at off-half and Peter Hudson-Kowalewicz and Ali Heard in the centres with Fynlay Hobson, Keane Naylor and Reece Dean vying for the back three positions.

The bench is likely to include prop Charlie Beech, back rower Alec Renouf, second row Anthony McCormack and centre/winger Harry Dawkins with several players looking to get the nod for the fifth spot on the bench.

The side looks to have a more powerful pack for this fixture, but the side will need to regain the defensive qualities shown against Otley and a precision in attack to inflict a first defeat of the season for Billingham.
