After a very encouraging friendly against League One side Darlington Mowden Park and a one-point defeat to a useful Otley side, Hull came down to earth with a heavy defeat to near neighbours Hull Ionians last weekend.
Hull could point to two tries that were disallowed which would have made things look better, but they made too many errors to have had a chance of turning the game around.
This week they go to early pace setters Leeds and will be looking to get back on track. A number of injuries and player unavailability have given the coaches the chance to blood some up and coming youngsters and who will relish the chance to show what they can do.
Harvey Harding’s place could go to the very promising young back-row/scrum-half Ben Hall. With winger Mike Adlard out injured Hull have a number of good backs to consider including Harry Dawkins who could join captain Ali Heard, Peter Hudson-Kowalewicz, Keane Naylor, Fynlay Hobson and Reece Dean in a back line whose final composition will be formulated nearer kick-off time.
The pack could see the return of backrow man Alec Renouf in the starting line-up making up the packs back three with Evi Uriburu-Grey and Jack Baldry with the regular front row of Mike Jobling, Jamie Major and Tom Bairstow and locks Anthony McCracken and Bill Addy completing the likely starting line up.
Hull’s young side will have digested the lessons of last week as they look to give promotion-hunting Leeds a few problems on their own ground.
