Jamie: We Want To Give Ourselves Something To Remember This Weekend

A few years ago, Jamie Major’s school were chosen as one of the teams to lead England out ahead of an international at Twickenham. It was against Italy and he and the rest of his class-mates got to stand in the middle of the Twickenham pitch for the national anthem. He dreamt of returning one day as a player. On Saturday, his dream will become a reality as he gets to walk out onto the hallowed turf once again, but this time as a player. The prop, who played the majority of the 26-13 win over Lancashire, is part of the Yorkshire squad heading to Twickenham on Saturday to face Kent in the final of the Bill Beaumont County Championship. And he can’t wait.

“I’ve never played at Twickenham before,” Jamie said.
“But I went when I was 14 or 15 through a thing with the school.
“We got to walk out onto the pitch before the England match.
“It’ll be great to go back.
“It feels pretty good to know we’ll be playing at Twickenham. I can’t wait.
“The thing I’m looking forward to the most is winning.
“It’s all good getting there, but you really want to win to give yourself something to remember.

“My mum Gaymor and sister Amber will be there, that’s for sure.
“You can see why five of us made it into the Yorkshire squad.
“How we finished the league and that has carried over well into this competition.
“I think I played about 76 minutes in total against Lancashire.
“Bair just wanted me to get back on the pitch. He’s like that.”
