How many Poland internationals have played at Twickenham? If you know the answer, then let us know. If the answer is zero, then it will be one after Saturday June 15, when Peter Hudson-Kowalewicz is expected to line up for Yorkshire in their final of the Bill Beaumont County Championship at rugby HQ.
Yorkshire are in the final courtesy of Hudson-Kowalewicz’s two tries in the white rose’s 26-13 win over Lancashire at Brantingham Park. Both tries came when the home side were down to 14 men. Modest as ever, Hudson-Kowalewicz, who finished the season as Hull RUFC’s second leading try scorer with nine, played down his heroics against Lancashire.
“The win was down to the forwards really,” Hudson-Kowalewicz said.
“They set the platform and we showed patience, I was just there to finish the tries off.
“I went to watch the game at Sedgley Park last year thinking how good it would be to play in a game like that.
“So getting the opportunity to do that this year is great.
“I felt the emotion of the other boys who lost to Lancashire last season and it feels great to win.
“I don’t think many Polish internationals will have played at Twickenham.
“The season has been alright for me.
“I’m looking forward to playing with the team again, the best players in Yorkshire.
“I’m excited to have family come down to watch me play there too.
“Hopefully they are all proud.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet, it might only be when I get there, the realisation sinks in.
“I’ll try not to think about it too much.
“I’m calling it now, another two tries at Twickenham.
“That would be cool. But it’s just another game.
“I want to take it all in when I get there, and enjoy the occasion.”
