Yorkshire are one win away from reaching this year’s final of the Bill Beaumont County Championship at Twickenham. The White Rose county face Lancashire at Brantingham Park on Saturday (3pm) knowing a win will see them through to the decider at the RFU’s headquarters. Hull RUFC have provided five members of the squad and all five were involved in Saturday’s 33-31 win at Somerset to set up Saturday’s decider. Ali Heard, Hull RUFC’s team captain who was named man of the match against Somerset, is calling for local supporters to come together and help Yorkshire win the Roses clash.
“Yesterday was a very tough game, the heat was a factor as well,” Heard said.
“It went right to the final whistle, we started fairly well but Somerset came back out at half time and put us under a bit of pressure.
“Thankfully we came out on top at the end.
“While it was a challenging game we have to remember this is our first game together as a squad and this week we will look to make some improvements going into the game against Lancashire.
“None of the Hull boys scored although all of them played a massive part in the game both sides of the ball.
“It will be great to have the game this weekend at Brantingham Park as it’s so close to home for us Hull lads.
“I hope that a lot of people come down to see what is always a tough and competitive game against Lancashire.”
