After representing Yorkshire at various youth team levels, it’s only fitting that Tom Bairstow was named in the Yorkshire squad for the Bill Beaumont County Championship, which was named earlier this week. As a youngster, Bairstow has been to Twickenham to watch a game and he still remembers the buzz. If Yorkshire can come out on top of their pool, which includes Somerset and Lancashire, the a trip to the national stadium will be booked.
“I think everyone involved in county has the aim of reaching Twickenham,” the prop said.
“It’s the same for me, playing at that stadium has been a massive dream of mine for quite a while.
“I’ve represented Yorkshire at U15s, U16s and U20s and it will make me proud to put on the white rose again at men’s level.
“To actually step out on the turf at Twickenham would be a very surreal experience.
“I’ve been there once to watch a game back when I was younger and just feeling the buzz around the arena makes it a massive occasion.
“Hopefully for both me and my family we are able to perform there and for them to watch me play!
“I’m very excited for the campaign and hopefully this time we’ll reach the final.”
