Charlie Marks Year-Long Absence With A Win

Saturday’s 39-36 home win against Fylde was the club’s fifth in the last seventh and keeps alive hopes of a top half finish. The win also marked a return to the club after a year away for Charlie Rawlins, who came on for the final 15 minutes. The winger made a handful of appearances last season in National League One, but a trip to Australia meant his services were sorely missed. So, how did it feel to be back in the black, red and gold?

“It’s really good to be back,” Rawlins said.
“It’s the same coaching staff, but there are a few new players and it was good to get to know them during my first week back.
“I feel like I’ve settled in already, which is good.
“I played for a club in Perth called Kalamunda and played in the Perth Premiership with them.
“That was really good fun. It was a different type of rugby with a lot less structure than here. It was very fast flowing. I had a great time out there.
“It was a good feeling to win on Saturday. I didn’t play as much as I could have last season, but it’s nice to get a win under my belt first off.
“We have two matches remaining and it would be great to get the win over those two sides.
“Saturday’s win was intense and good fun to be a part of.
“The last three minutes, we knew they would throw everything at us and we just had to keep them out.
“Our defence had to be perfect and luckily we won the turnover.”
