For the fourth time this season, Reece Fawcett was named on the bench for our last game at Tynedale. Nothing unusually about that, but for the first time, he managed to get some game time. And he won’t forget his debut in a hurry either. The back-row forward was on the pitch when Mike Jobling scored the fifth try in the 77th minute to level the match at 34-34, before Reece Dean’s brilliant touchline conversion won the game.
“Since the first game I was picked to be on the bench, I’ve wanted to get to stuck in, normally I’m on the sidelines helping out,” Fawcett said.
“To finally get on the pitch and contribute for team is something I’ve been eager to show.
“I managed to keep quite calm and relaxed managed to control my nerves.
“It was a back and forth game but credit to the lads we kept in the fight and we knew we were the better team.
“The conditions didn’t help in the first half in how we wanted to play but we stayed in the game.
“Second half, we all knew we were in control and all we had to do was show our quality.
“When the final whistle blew just remember Jobbers and Alec laying on me.
“It was a massive win on the road and now we’ll look to finish the final games we have in the best way possible.”
