Team News Ahead Of Clash With The Titans

Hull welcome Rotherham Titans to Chants Ave on Saturday hoping to derail the visitors’ push for promotion.

Hull have had some good results since Christmas and played well last week in defeat at Lymm, but the task they have ahead of them this week will require all the effort and drive of recent weeks. Ball retention and precision in execution will be vital.

Rotherham and Leeds have put daylight between themselves and the rest of the league as they both aspire to become part of National Division 1 next season.

The game between the two sides willhave a decisive bearing on which side gains automatic promotion.

Rotherham will be keen to get the most out of this week’s encounter with Hull, but the home side have grown in stature during the season and are looking forward to the challenge.

They will show respect to a side of Rotherham’s standing, but will be looking to see what tactics they need to employ to get the most out of the game.

Hull will be without Liam Regardsoe as he serves a one-week ban on a yellow card totting up process, but otherwise the rest of the side should be available. Latu Makaafi is the likely second row replacement and will bring his undoubted experience and full commitment to the side.

Hull’s forwards have developed into a cohesive unit, but will need to maintain that unity in the face of one of the best packs in the league.

Their defensive work will need to be at its best and keeping a low penalty count and maintaining discipline for 80 minutes will play another vital part.

Hull’s backs are capable of causing any side problems and with captain Ali Heard available to rejoin the squad, Hull will be able to field a very good three-quarter line.

Last weeks’s bench of prop Charlie Beech second row Joshua Papa, scrum-half/back-row Harvey Harding, Duell Trueman all came on and played well, so Hull will have a battle hardened squad for this tough fixture.

Rotherham have lost just one game all season and that was to Leeds in a very tight game, but they only just beat Fylde 32-27, and despite a series of convincing victories, they do concede points.

If Hull are at their best there is no reason why they cannot get something put of this game.
