Support Peter On His Charity Cycle Ride

Peter Delaney is a former rugby player and Rotarian from East Yorkshire, who is about to embark on a cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Peter plans to start his charity cycle ride on April 26 and he hopes to complete the 1,189 mile trip by the end of May to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease, after recently losing his wife Maureen to the disease.

The 63-year-old, a member of Beverley Rotary Club, is determined to complete the challenge despite having mobility issues.

To support Peter, Beverley Rotary Club is offering a virtual sponsorship challenge called March on MND. With the estimated number of steps to walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats is around 2,299,171, the club is inviting people to sponsor £1 for every 100 steps taken on the virtual journey.

The Beverley Rotary Club are also inviting people to join Peter in the saddle for part of the journey to north Scotland. People will be wearing shirts featuring the words Route 53 March on MND.

The significance of the number 53 relates to Peter’s wife’s birthday and Peter will carry 53 club pennants to exchange with groups along the way.

For more information, email rcbmembers27@gmail.com (using MND in the subject) or you can call Peter on 07957 546824 or Jools on 07885 222816.
