Duell: James’ Versatility Will Serve Us Well

Duell Trueman believes Saturday’s 40-33 win at Chants Ave against Preston Grasshoppers highlights the character there is within the squad. Trailing 19-3 few outside the camp would have given the Hull RUFC a chance of claiming a much-needed win. But despite being outscored by five tries to four, the home side secured the win thanks to a hat-trick by Bureta Faraimo and a brilliant solo effort from James Naylor. Naylor was named the league’s player of the week and Trueman was full of praise for the versatile scrum half.

“I think James has been a great addition and suites the style of rugby we want to play,” Trueman said.
“Like several players we have, he can also do a job in other positions as he showed on the wing.
“I think that ability to interchange players is what is helping us get us through tough games.
“We all know how unlucky we have been with injuries in the past few months.
“So for the team to be able to pull out a performance like Saturday’s win just shows our character.
“To come back from trailing 19-3 is also testament to our character and makes the win feel that much better.”
