More To Come From Man Of The Match Jamie

When the opposition coaches and backroom staff shake your hand when you come off the pitch in the closing moments of a game, you know you’ve done well. That was the case with Jamie Naylor, who was named man of the match following Saturday’s 40-33 win over Preston Grasshoppers. The scrum-half was instrumental in getting the crucial win and showed his running skills to score a brilliant try, which turned out to be the game-winning try. Naylor, who is six games into his Hull RUFC career, admits he is enjoying his rugby right now.

“The way the team came together was pleasing, especially in the second half, and the last 20 minutes of the first half, we stuck to the game plan and used it to our advantage,” Naylor said.
“I didn’t execute a very good box-kick at the start of the game, and that really got me, but after that it was better.
“It was good to get a try and our two centres did a great job of putting us on the front foot.
“I had a few good mentions in the last few weeks from opposition teams, and that gives me confidence playing in these games which allows me to play my game and do my running which is a strong part of my game.
“I feel I have more to show in my game. I still want to run the game.
“The lads have been so welcoming. I knew a lot of the lads from Yorkshire Academy when I was there as a 14-year-old, and a few of the Bishop Burton lads too.
“It’s good to get wins like Saturday’s because they were just below us in the table.
“Hopefully in the coming weeks, we can push for a place in the top half.”
