Hull were outgunned by a very good Leeds side but despite missing some key players and sustaining several injuries, Hull kept battling to score a total of three tries, but could not halt the waves of white shirts.
The game could not have started worse for Hull as they failed to collect the Leeds kick off which was eagerly scooped up by the visitors for prop Dennis Williams to touch down under the posts after just 13 seconds, with full back Kieran Davies converting!!
Six minutes later Leeds kicked ahead and Davies won the race to touch down for an unconverted try. The same player raced away again for a further try after 14 minutes, again unconverted.
With Leeds in control Leeds winger Henry McNab crossed for a try converted by Davies. Hull never gave up and a late penalty goal by Reece Dean on the stroke of half-time, saw them on the score board but trailing 24-3 at the break.
The second period saw Hull under pressure from the kick off and Hull centre Bureta Faraimo was yellow carded on 42 minutes. Leeds took full advantage of their numerical advantage with quick hands from a tap penalty saw Banjamin Turpin touch down for an unconverted try.
Five minutes later a deep kick from Hull saw Leeds run the ball back and second row Tom Collins touched down with Peter Lucock converting. In the 50th minute, Hull scored a spectacular long range try when Leeds dropped ball deep in Hull’s half only for full back Harrison Astley, to pick up the ball and race 70 yards for a try converted by Dean to make it 36-10.
Leeds were rampant at this stage with further tries from McNab after 51 minutes and Hardwick after 57minutes. The onslaught continued with Evans after 63 minutes and Davies after 67 minutes touching down with Williams converting the Hardwick try.
Hull never stopped battling with their scrum doing well and scrum-half James Naylor prominent in attack and defence.
A good passing movement after a scrum saw substitute winger Joey Barratt touch down in the right hand corner with Reece Dean adding a great touchline conversion after 72 minutes.
Hull scored their third try of the game after a barnstorming run by Paulos Latu ended in an unconverted try for him after 79 minutes to see a final score of Hull 22-58.
