31 January 2009 – North One: Hull 3-5 Sheffield Tigers
Sheffield Tigers became the first team to do the double over Hull in this season and they also inflicted the first defeat for Hull at home since moving to the Ferens Ground. Hull led by a penalty on 10 minutes from James Cameron and held the 3-0 lead until the 59th minute when Sheffield scored an unconverted interception try. There was no further scoring and the Tigers held on for victory in a low scoring game.
