Hull travel to Dore Moor to take on Sheffield Tigers this weekend in a game that sees two sides with identical playing records of seven victories, seven losses and one drawn game go head-to-head.
If Hull can win, it is possible they could leap frog the Tigers in terms of league position, the Sheffield side have a four-point advantage by virtue of a slightly better bonus point record than Hull.
The Sheffield ground is rather open and local knowledge is not to be underestimated as wind direction and a slight slope on the pitch and how to use those elements to best advantage will play their part in the eventual outcome.
Hull have a couple of changes from the side that was selected to take on Leeds in last week’s postponed game.
Peter Hudson-Kowalewicz is away on international duty with Poland and Harrison Astley is unavailable. So David Davison comes in on the wing with Duell Trueman taking the full back berth. James Naylor starts at scrum half again after some very encouraging performances.
The pack sees Alec Renouf and David Halaifonua as flankers with Evi Uriburu-Gray at number eight. The front five remain as before with Liam Regardsoe and Paulos Latu in the second row.
The bench sees the experienced prop Charlie Beech, scrum-half/back row Harvey Harding, scrum-half Joey Barratt join prop Kaminieli Tuvuto and back rowers Reece Fawcett and Dan McDougal as the impact players.
Hull showed great skills in the sixty point haul against Huddersfield but Sheffield Tigers will look to close the space Hull enjoyed then so it will be harder to break down a gritty side.
It is a game Hull can win but it will need the right tactical plan well executed to come away with the points.
