He started Saturday thinking he wasn’t going to feature in the derby with Hull Ionians. By the end of the day David Davison was the match winner, scoring the all important try with the last move of the game as the club clinched a dramatic 23-18 win at Brantingham Park. Davison admits the eight-man play from left to right was a set move.
“Deano told me to hold my width as we played it through the backs,” Davison explained.
“Harrison came round and gave it to Duell and I managed to get over in the corner. It was a set play.
“We can use this win to push off now and remember the feeling after we won the derby like we did.
“I didn’t think I was going to get on to be honest.
“I came on on the wing, which isn’t my normal position but I had played there a few times.
“I came on with about 10 minutes to play, and I played against a few lads that I used to play with at Pocklington, so that was nice.
“It’s good to get over the line.
“We played so much better than we have in recent weeks and the win was fully deserved for the team.”
